On Monday, May 13, I will begin teaching a two-week Skillshare class on hand-drawn label design. There will be a bunch of video lectures detailing research and inspiration, sketching concepts, brand development, and how to approach creating awesome labels with your own two hands. At the end of the class, the person who I think did the best job will get an awesome prize pack and of course, a write-up in all the usual social media channels.

So for anyone that’s missed a lecture, you’re in luck! This is going to get way more hardcore than any speaking engagement I’ve ever done.

Medical doctor Chiaki Mukai became the first Japanese woman in space whem she flew aboard the Space Shuttle Columbia's STS-65 mission in '94. She also flew on Shuttle Discovery's STS-95 mission in '98

Cosmonaut Yelena Kondakova spent five months on the Mir space station from October 1994 to March 1995. She later served as mission specialist aboard the Space Shuttle Atlantis' STS-84 flight in 1997.

Former test pilot Eileen Collins fulfilled a childhood dream of space flight when she became the first female pilot of a Shuttle aboard Discovery's STS-63 mission in 1995.

Marsha Ivins served as mission specialist on Shuttle Columbia's STS-32 flight in 1990. Marsha has logged over 1,318 hours in space during her five Shuttle missions. Thirteenth woman in space!

Inspired by both Sally Ride and Star Trek's Nichelle Nichols, Mae Jemison joined NASA's astronaut program in 1987. Mae's only spaceflight was on the Shuttle Endeavour STS-47 mission in 1992.

Charlotte, NC born Susan Helms became the twenty-first woman in space when she flew aboard Shuttle Endeavour mission STS-54 in 1993, the first of her five spaceflights.

California girl Ellen Ochoa became the first Hispanic woman in space aboard Shuttle Discovery mission STS-56 in 1993. Ellen flew a further three space missions.

Nancy Sherlock-Currie flew alongside Janice Voss aboard Shuttle Endeavour's STS-57 mission in 1993. Nancy flew a further three missions and would become a key figure in NASA's robotics development.

Metallocarbonane enthusiast Anna Fisher flew aboard Space Shuttle Discovery on mission STS-51-A in November 1984. Fisher became the sixth woman in space. Bonus: first mother in space!

Born in Shanghai to missionary parents, Shannon Lucid became the eighth woman in space when she flew aboard the Shuttle Discovery mission STS-51-G in 1985. Shannon made four more spaceflights.
